Welcome Home!
I'm Joe Murchison, and I'm proud to say I was born and raised right here in Lawton, Oklahoma. I am a true Lawtonian through and through. This city shaped who I am.
The mentors, educators, coaches, neighbors, and community leaders who invested in me taught me the value of service, leadership, hard work, and compassion. Those lessons gave me the confidence to pursue opportunities around the world as a performing artist, arts educator, nonprofit leader, and cultural ambassador.
Now, it's time to bring that experience home.
I'm running for Lawton City Council, Ward 7, because I believe our community deserves leadership that listens, collaborates, and puts people first.
A Well-Lived Lawton
My vision is simple.
Every resident, family, business owner, service member, and visitor deserves the opportunity to experience a city they are proud to call home.
That means creating neighborhoods where children thrive, families have access to healthy food, businesses grow, parks are active, the arts flourish, and every voice matters.
Together, we can build A Well-Lived Lawton.
Every contribution helps us build A Well-Lived Lawton. Thank you for investing in our community and our shared future.
My Priorities
580 NeXt! Investing in Tomorrow's Leaders
Our future begins with our young people. Through 580 NeXt!, I will work alongside schools, nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations to create meaningful opportunities for youth through leadership development, mentorship, arts and humanities programming, wellness initiatives, and career exploration. When we invest in our youth, we invest in Lawton's future.
Healthy Neighborhoods
Quality of life starts where we live. I am committed to addressing food insecurity, expanding access to healthy food, and working collaboratively to find compassionate, practical solutions to the challenges facing our underhoused neighbors.
Every family deserves the opportunity to live in a safe, healthy, and thriving community.
Sustainable Lawton
Building a stronger city also means protecting it. I will champion practical environmental initiatives that encourage cleaner neighborhoods, responsible growth, and sustainable practices that reduce our community's environmental impact while making Ward 7 a more beautiful place to live.
Active Communities
Healthy communities don't happen by accident. I want to encourage residents to become active physically through wellness initiatives and active civically by participating in neighborhood meetings, volunteering, voting, and helping shape the future of our city. A stronger Lawton starts with engaged citizens.
Service First. Community Always.
This campaign isn't simply about electing a city council member. It's about creating a culture where people feel heard, respected, and empowered.
Whether you support me or someone else, my hope is that every eligible voter participates in this election. Democracy is strongest when every voice has the opportunity to be heard.
If you're not registered to vote, I'd love to help. Visit the voter resources on this website. Don't miss your opportunity to vote. The voter registration deadline for the August 25th Primary Election is July 31, 2026.
